How come religious folk aren't considered nerds?

I mean... they exhibit the same characteristics of a nerd who is involved in some episodic fictional material. Why is it considered different for someone to say Book X, section Y:Z, line Q "blah, blah, blah..... N." as opposed to someone else saying "Star Trek A, episode B, time stamp C "blah, blah, blah.... M."?

I mean, the differences are nil.

Therefore, all people who study the Bible and learn it inside out, line for line, meaning for meaning, are nerds.
