I'm sorry but there is no other "script" I know of. I even doubt it's one "script." It's based on an older version of SourceForge, so it's going to be big.

All you need is PostgreSQL along with Apache and PHP. I'm assuming you'll also need the PHP/PostgreSQL bindings and mod_auth. It would most likely be better in the long run to have Mailman, Python and Jabber along with it too, however.

Anyway, for those for you wondering why I want to do this, I will explain. I think installing Gforge is a good idea because:

-People could contribute code without long-term commitment, no one will have to play politcal games.

-All projects, even unfinished, could be posted. And since the source would be available, people could continue or extend projects.

-We wouldn't have to deal with childish people leaking code and releasing early internal betas and the whining and drama of it.

-It could act as a "neutral" place of meeting and collaboration. And since the source would be available, no one will theorize about massive conspiracies, there would be nothing to hide.

-It would help the community's regular members actually DO something, instead of just complaining, arguing, asking for more features, etc. Also, developers can get useful help from the community, instead of doing everything themselves. It could allow them to remain rested, keeping them from being "burnt out."
