If you don't try how do you know? Perhaps one of the texture files is corrupted and therefore causing issues with DirectX. Heck, if your that bothered about keeping your advantage skins zip them up while you test it or something.
Also worth deleting all your .thu files to see if that helps, they get automatically generated again anyway next time you load the map, so even if it doesn't help you haven't lost anything.
