It works just fine...so i'm figuring it's the os. the connection is USB 2.0 but it also says it works w/o 2.0.

98se has some problems with USB support. (in fact, Microsoft claims they there is no, and never will be USB support for 98se.) Here's a few places you might be able to start to get it working?
