I wonder if the second word was intentionally misspelled? (I think it's supposed to be 'phenomenal' but it doesn't quite have the right letters for that... and 'phenominal' isn't a word...)

None of the other words bothered me when I read it though.... Does their research say that we can spot misspellings without much effort even when the letters are all mixed up like that, too?

I think it may also pertain to "force of habit". Once you've used a word for X number of years, you can probably identify it through grotesque errors.

It doesn't seem to work as well the first time if the sentence doesn't at least make sense. "My honors teacher taught? us that (used to be my honors he dropped me, I always talked shit to him)?" I understood it eventually but it took me a lot longer than the initial paragraph in the first post.

Even if you just scramble some of the words in the article more, they're harder. Like 'Pelborm' instead of 'Porbelm'. But I won't be a buzz kill. Wink

But you've jumbled those words up in a fashion where the letters can't be rearranged next to each other to form the word. That's not the same, it's a puzzle.

According to the "study", all that matters is that the first and last letters are in the right place and I did that. What the study should've said is that all you can do is swap a letter or two with the one next to it.
